SH4 Lakes Hill Overslip & Realignment

Project Overview: Realignment of 600m of SH4 and daylighting of corner. Work included a large variation called Aberfeldy Hill – this involved taking out another corner of road that wasn’t included in the original works. We had dumpers working on the road in live lanes with limited room for movement. Also a very steep work area – some places were near vertical with overhangs.

Drainage

  • Drainage included 375mm and 450mm diameter stormwater lines across the new road

  • 65m of flume was installed

  • 145m of aggregate drain

  • 750m of subsoil drainage

  • Rural culvert installation and manhole

Earthworks

  • 3,600m3 topsoil strip, stockpile and respread

  • 160,000m3 cut to fill

  • 15,000m3 cut to waste

  • 7,250m2 subgrade preparation
