Whanganui Rail Crossing
Project Overview: Wanganui rail crossing replacement this was labour intensive with 15 workers on the job. Local suppliers sourced for concrete, metal and asphalt. Machine operation in confined work areas with a high number of services to contend with. Great level of quality and safe work completed. Independent Contractors supplied various materials and specialist services – Goodmans managed the programme and critical milestones. Huge push on the contract to get a large volume of work completed in a single weekend. Completion on time.
Works
Remove and reconstruct new railway crossing on busy crossing including:
Remove track and start drainage outlet
Jetvac services
Excavate to grade and lay cloth
Place drainage layer
Backfill with ballast while still completing drainage and excavating – it all happened in a continuous flow.
Complete ballast and grade as you place
Lift track set in, backfill track
Place rubber mats
Join all tiebacks on mats
Complete asphalting and clean up
