Block of line main trunk line north of SH1 bridge in Otaki involved:

• Remove 150m of trackset,

• excavate unsuitable 6m deep,

• replace to subgrade 150mm deep,

• place basecourse to grade,

• dressed with 20mm topping,

• use GPS grader for final trim on transitional curve and straight,

• place ballast to grade,

• lifted track set back in.

Block of line work at Otaki Station:

• Lift trackset out,

• excavation as above but 3m deep and amongst a lot of services,

• backfill,

• drainage,

• place ballast to grade,

• lift trackset back in.
