M2PP Archaeological Investigation

Project Overview: Exploratory earthworks in the expressway designation to locate any historical items prior to destruction from construction works.

Earthworks

  • The earthworks consisted of carefully removing the top layer of vegetation and topsoil whilst under the watch of the archaeologists and Iwi.

  • Investigation work was carried out throughout the entire site – 18km expressway!
